Title : A Comparative Study on Web-Based Open Source e-Learning Platforms

Abstract
A comparative study was carried out among five Web-Based Open Source e-Learning Platforms, aiming to document qualitative perceptions from different kinds of users, confirm previous findings concerning suitability for online learning experiences, identify common structural patterns and produce a set of recommendations for future explorations of e-Learning spaces. The study was organized in four stages. Functionalities were first explored; followed by a world-wide survey on technical and didactical aspects among administrators and instructors currently using targeted systems. Collected data was then processed and summarized. Findings indicate that evaluations of e-learning platforms involving different kinds of users and several dimensions may lead to a more balanced characterization of these systems. At the same time, they suggest that didactical features of e-learning platforms selected for this study are not substantially different, making any of them suitable for common online learning experiences. Disparities in technical and pedagogical assessments may point to a predominance of technical over didactical principles in the design and deployment of e-Learning platforms under study. Further experiments are required based on this exploration to confirm open hypotheses that could contribute to the constitution of an ideal e-Learning space.

Abstract
The RoboCup Junior (RCJ) is a competition whose players are autonomous robots made by children. It is considered that through these competitions children's interest in and appreciation of production rise and a practical attitude toward devising, creating, and problem-solving can be nurtured. This paper proposes to employ a rescue event in an RCJ competition following the example of disaster relief as learning material for the study of information technology.
The educational guidelines for learning information technology is proposed and autonomous robots suitable for the RCJ rescue and a programming language for sensing and control are chosen. After conducting a compulsory class in industrial arts, the usefulness of the proposed information technology study is shown based on a time series analysis of self-evaluations by students and an objective evaluation in the view of making the sensing and control program which is a method of devising and creating objects.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand the conditions and issues regarding technology and homemaking classes for the handicapped in middle schools in Tokyo under Special Support Education. The investigation was carried out with homeroom teachers by means of a questionnaire. The results are as follows! 1) Licensed teachers make up a little less than 30% of technology instructors and about half of homemaking instructors; 2)Most students take 2 school hours each of technology and homemaking per week. Most students learn woodworking, information technology and computers, cultivation, food, and clothing. The forms that these classes take are more various than in other middle school classes, 3)Especially for technology, there are no classes in the school when there is no teacher available to teach the subject.

Abstract
The present study investigated the effects of task repetition on the learning of tool operating skills for junior high school students, and investigated relationships between students' tool operating skills and their self valuations, and awareness of those skills. In this investigation, a nipper which strips the coating from electrical wire was selected as a tool for students to operate. At first, the students were requested to strip as many electrical wires as carefully as they could using the nipper for two minutes. Second, the students were given a questionnaire in which they evaluated their skill after the task. The task and the questionnaire were repeated four times. As a result of this investigation, many of the students reached an invariable level of operating skill with two repetitions in a one week interval.
Therefore, it was confirmed that students can acquire the skill of operating the nipper with two repetitions of a two-minute task. Furthermore, students tended to evaluate their skills based not on accuracy but on the number of the electrical wires which they stripped.

Abstract
The condenser microphone has several problems in that it disturbs the sound field and its diaphragm is destroyed when it is located in the flow. Since the optical wave microphone is out of contact with the flow, it can avoid these problems. In the present paper, after presenting the theory and the basic characteristics of the optical wave microphone, that is, its frequency characteristics, its directivity in the vertical and horizontal planes, and its suitable incidence location of the sound wave to the laser beam, the application of the optical wave microphone to the measurement of jet noise and the delimiting of Mach numbers using an optical wave microphone in the jet flow are studied. As a result, the effectiveness of the optical wave microphone for aerodynamic noise measurement is confirmed.

Abstract
This study measured fuel consumption in a 4-cylinder gasoline engine when the injector is stopped, and collected data on changes in the position and number of halts of the injector. Then we compared the difference in reduction effects in the measured fuel consumption. We put a transistor into a series for the injector control circuit of the ECU, and we stopped the injector by controlling the transistor with a microcomputer. Fuel consumption was calculated based on fuel injection time, and fuel injection was measured time using an OBD II -standard scan tool. As a result, we were able to confirm that there were reduction effects in fuel consumption of 6-22%. The purpose of this study is to present the test data on the cylinder pause system so that they may be utilized for future auto-mechanics education.
