Title:A Teaching Tool with PIC in Solar Battery

In energy education, photovoltaic generation panels have become useful and familiar tools. It is important to deal with energy conversion not only qualitatively, but also quantitatively. Because of this, as teaching material to learn solar panel energy conversion quantitatively, we developed a device with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technology and power display function. In the device step up and down converters are used, and their electrical power generation control and measurement is achieved by use of PIC microprocessor and control of PWM signal. By using PIC, generated power is calculated from the measured current and voltage of the photovoltaic panel and these are displayed on a liquid crystal display (LCD) device.

The use of image database is indispensable in the Information Education. Particularly in Information Learning, various explanatory documentations are related to a variety of corresponding images and thus it is a complex task to manage both coherently. The use of watermark technologies enables us to manage theimages and the documentations simultaneously by embedding the documentations in the related images. However, the traditional watermarking method causes the deterioration of image quality. In order to improve the quality of watermarked image, we propose three new watermarking methods in this paper. First, we propose a new watermarking method that avoids image areas discriminated in the visual field by taking into consideration characteristics of human vision. Second is a new watermarking method utilizing high-degree estimation functions by Least Squares. Third is a new watermarking method including an invisible image and a new tag of TIFF structure, which enable us to hold the loss-less image. The proposed watermarking methods are evaluated through the numerical experiments, and we verify their effectiveness.

In manufacturing machine factories there have been advancements in automated machinery and effective parts processing and thus in manufacturing education, it is important to understand the state and technologies of such.
In this paper, a learning model of automated machine factory utilizing Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) is proposed for the study of how parts are processed. Further, using this factory model, as learning material targeting University students, the study verified a deepened understanding of parts processing in machinery.

In technology education in junior high schools, autonomous robot teaching materials are suited to improvement in students' study motivation and the acquisition of basic knowledge in programming, measurement and control. However, good teaching methods for programming, measurement and control learning by using autonomous robots have not been adequately developed. We therefore systematically carried out teaching practices for programming, measurement and control learning by using the autonomous robot and developed a teaching method that achieves improved study motivation and acquisition of fundamental programming, measurement and control knowledge.

Practical classes have been carried out for four years since 2003 in order to examine ways of measuring practical competence of university students studying to become teachers and to evaluate content and form of lessons with respect to education of practical competence. In the classes, students developed teaching material in a free subject, drawing out teaching plans and presentation for their work. A questionnaire to the students was carried out to investigate the motives and goals by which they selected teaching materials and their self-evaluations. The degree of completeness in their teaching materials and teaching plans was assessed by the lecturers.

The energy supply and demand balance being very unstable in Japan today, utilization of renewable energies as alternative for fossil fuels is an important issue. In this study through experiments in thermal energy conversion teaching materials for learning were developed, interest and concern were heightened and efforts were made to bring awareness of the issues closer to home. We were able to verify the students' gaining of a deeper understanding of energy problems and grasping of energy conservation concepts through the experiments in the classroom activities.
The educational material was two water tanks into which waters of different temperatures were put. Using a peltier device, thermoelectric generation due to temperature difference was created. Meters were attached to measure water tank temperatures, surface temperature in the vicinity of the peltier device, and electromotive force and the load current.
In the experiment lesson, results verified educational effect, showing that students gained higher awareness of energy issues and also were able to effect concrete instances of energy conservation that they were able to do themselves.

The theme of the "Intelligent House" was chosen as a subject as a programmed, measured and controlled learning of the Information and Computer in technology education for Junior High Schools. As one system of measurement and control, "Intelligent House" teaching materials were taken and students gradually gained understanding of basic concept about sensor and the relationship between computer and program. In self-directed group activities the task was to create a program employing flow charts. Information regarding students' degree of knowledge of and interest in the study contents was collected through questionnaires before and after lessons and was examined in connection to educational performance.
It was found that the teaching materials were grasped as a part of measurement control system and were effective not only in deepening students' understanding of sensor, but also in advancing their interest in and appreciation of the relationships between a program and a systems of measurement and control.
