The primary objective of this study was to determine the optical screen
configuration for junior high school students. Experiments were carried
out to determine the most eye-friendly configurations for different age
groups. We compared the performances of junior high students with those
of university students. All participants were required to both read and
write using font sizes ranging from 10.5p to 24p, and two different font
styles (Mincho, Gothic). Screen configuration (brightness of text and background
color) and the positioning of the text were also variables. The results
were as follows: The preferred font size was larger for junior high students
than for university students, and the younger the junior high school student,
the larger the font preferred. Junior high and university students displayed
the same tendency for preferences in font styles.

When organizing a school-wide information system, not only must we consider how to reduce maintenance costs but we must also think about security and availability. In this paper, we introduce a specific example of an information system used by teachers, students, and third parties outside the school. System security was created by putting in two firewalls and dividing the system into three separate networks, one each for the teaching staff, the school as a whole, and the general public. Next, we discuss the training necessary to enable school employees to manage the system, and we describe a training course we developed. The course was actually applied to training related to an accreditation system for educational information technology qualifications in Thailand. Effectiveness of the training was heightened by implementing multiple operating systems and creating three different training patterns, each most appropriate for a certain training content. The effectiveness of the training was validated by the instructors' evaluations of the course.

ard career development; F3, attitude toward professional skill development; F4, attitude toward social values; F5, attitude toward self-monitoring. The 53 items on the survey were then reorganized into 19, and the students' scores for each factor were compared. There were no significant differences between male and female students in the mean scores for each factor. However, there were significant differences among students of the three different grades for F1, F2, and F3. The mean scores for F1 and F2 became higher for older students, while the mean scores for F3 went down for older students.

Title: Developing a Model for Achievement Standards, Assessment Standards, and Assessment Tools for Subjects Related to the Vocational Inquiry Section of the College Scholastic Ability Test of Korea
Auther: Young Jong KIM,Yong Soon LEE,Byung Wook LEE
題目:韓国の大学入学試験における職業探求領域関連科目の成就基準,評価基準及び評価道具モデルの開発
著者:金永鍾,李龍淳,李炳郁
The purpose of this study is to develop achievement and assessment standards that reflect the objectives of the vocational inquiry section−related subjects at vocational high schools, subjects which will be introduced in the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) in the school year 2005, and to develop assessment tools for each course that reflect these standards.
In order to upgrade the quality of the special−subjects curriculum at vocational high schools and successfully launch the vocational section of the CSAT, the following suggestions are made.
First, achievement/assessment standards and assessment tools should be developed for the seventeen vocation inquiry section-related courses.
Second, studies should be made to identify how standards developed can be utilized for the CSAT for the school year of 2005.
Third, ways should be provided to correct and complement achievement/assessment standards reflecting changes in industrial environment, knowledge and technology.
Fourth, a training program should be provided to school teachers to help them understand the standards developed and to promote use of the standards.

itle: Experiments Using High Ozone Concentration to Treat Food Industry Wastewater
Auther: Noboru FUJIMOTO
題目:食品産業廃水に対する高濃度オゾンによる廃水処理実験
著者:藤本 登
Experiments were carried out using the cavitation type liquid-waste treatment
system with ozone to treat food-industry wastewater. The highly efficient
gas solution system employing a friction panel at the tip of a nozzle improves
the dissolution efficiency by decreasing the diameter of bubbles to 1/100
of that of the existing air blow system. When restaurant kitchen discharges
were treated, the value of n-Hexane and BOD were reduced to 80% and 45%
respectively within three hours. This system has also proved to be more
effective than the reduction bleaching treatment for wastewater containing
R102.

Title: A Comparison of VDT Alphabet-Letter-Searching Cognition Between Junior High School Students and University Students

題目:VDT画面上の文字検索に対する若年者(中学生)と大人(大学生)の視読認知特性
著者:山口有美,山口晴久
With an eye to finding the most appropriate VDT screen design for junior
high school students and improving computer education, this study examined
the differences in visual cognition between junior high school students
and university students. In our experiment, a computer display screen was
divided into nine equal areas, and single letters of the alphabet were
displayed randomly in each area; the speed at which participants could
search out a particular letter and their ability to recall the positioning
of letters were then tested. Results revealed that both junior high and
university students had better recall for letters appearing in the upper-left
area of the screen and worse recall for letters appearing at the bottom-right,
and that university students had faster recognition and better recall than
junior high students. A similar gap was found among junior high students
of different grades.

Title: Density Distribution in Molded Sugi Bark Particleboard and Its Adequacy for Accommodation of Heating Pipes and for Thermal Insulation

題目:スギ樹皮成形ボードの比重分布と熱水配管基材兼断熱材としての適性
著者:楊萍,井上康平,山内秀文
This study deals with the adequacy of molded sugi (Cryptomeria japonica
D. Don) bark particleboard as an under-laying material used in heated flooring
systems for both thermal insulation and accommodation of heating pipes
based on its density distribution measurements. Density distributions in
samples cut from one unit of molded bark particleboard with grille grooves
on one side were evaluated by means of a soft X-ray densitometry measurement.
A step wedge made from lauan (Shorea spp.) solid wood with a density of
0.54 g/cm3 was used as a density reference for the densitometer. The samples
and reference wedge were exposed to X-ray simultaneously. Based on the
specific correlation between the gray level on the developed soft X-ray
negatives and the density of the reference standard, the densitometry was
calibrated and the density distribution in molded bark particleboard was
analyzed. For improved visualization, computer graphics were used to convert
monochrome images of soft X-ray densitometry into multiple colors. Results
showed that the density distributed in molded bark particleboard ranged
from 0.24 g/cm3 to 0.72 g/cm3. The lowest density had formed at the top
ridge of the groove, and a high density zone of 0.54 g/cm3 or above was
found at the bottom of the groove. Assembling a heated flooring unit verified
that the molded bark particleboard could accommodate the heating pipes.
The material’s efficiency in reducing thermal energy loss in the high density
zone at the groove bottom was also substantiated by inserting a piece of
thermal diffusion material between the under-laying bark particleboard,
in which the heating pipes are installed, and a less-dense sugi face-flooring
panel.
